Reader_s virus!!!

Hey guys!!!

My pc got stuck up with a deadly virus last time n it took me a week to bring my pc back to normal. It is called as the reader_s virus n i tell u removing this is a PITA thing:)
Reader_s.exe can download additional forms of malware and can create a backdoor for hackers by opening a port. Reader_s.exe establishes a connection with a server outside the user’s computer. The virus will infect other executable files, making it hard to eliminate.

Let me tell u how i got infected with this virus. I received a virus alert from avira in my hp printer software. i gave ignore since i had to install it soon. That happened to be this *beep* virus which executed a series of registry tweaks n also opened up d ports for other viruses to enter. I guess i got almost each n every one of the problems everyone get by virus attacks. My USB ports dint work, couldn't give system restore, couldn't browse the cd drive, cannot view hidden files, cannot copy paste any file, cannot search, cannot edit regirstry, cannot open any exe file. There'll be no start menu n u've to jus gaze at ur wallpaper(which always looks cool in my pc:)) n jus shut down. I guess this is the ultimate virus which can take your OS to a unrepairable condition.

Even if you format n reinstall OS in ur cd drive, this virus is pretty intelligent n it has a counter attack too. The moment it is run in ur pc, it automatically copies itself to all ur drives. The only way now to recover is to format all drives. This virus is pretty intelligent; it has plan A.B,C etc., even if u try to stop it from running, it automatically executes d other plan. And u end up fighting with a wall!!

So, my advice ppl, don't ever give ignore to any threats found in ur system. It can cause insane effects. Also, two tools can be used immediately if u find u've been attacked by this virus. A tool called Hijackthis n another is Combo fix. These can remove this virus if it is in the initial stage.

Have Kaspersky or avira antivirus. These two re pretty good:) I recommend Kaspersky.

ciao ppl!!!

Pen drive virus!!

Pen drive virus is d latest menace that is attacking every system. Here are some of the precautionary steps you can take to get rid of this pen drive phobia. Usually most of the antivirus finds most of the viruses, but u can be completely sure if u follow these steps..

1) The main reason why 'virus makers' target pen drive viruses is that it can be used to auto run a file when u double-click it. There will be a file named 'autorun.inf' in the pen drive which runs automatically when u double click.

Disable autorun:
  • Open toStart >> Run and type“gpedit.msc” (without quotes) and press enter. This will open Group policy editor.
  • Browse to Administrative templates >> System >> double click on Turn off Autoplay click on Enabled and Under Settings >> Select All Drives in the drop down and click OK.

2) Now that u've disabled autorun, no virus wil enter ur pc on double click. The next step is to clear all viruses.
  • Open the pen drive, press ctrl+F to open d search dialog.
  • Select "All files and folders".
  • In the "more advanced options", check "Search hidden files and folders".
  • Type *.exe in the first text box.
  • It will display all the executable files inside the pen drive if any.
  • Delete all the files which have a folder icon or word file icon. These files are surely virus contatining exe files.
3) These steps mostly clear out 90% of the pen drive viruses. U will need an antivirus to fully protect ur computer.

ciao.

Generic Host Process error!!!!

I've found a lot of ppl who come across this error... maybe these tips can help u solve d prob....

For Windows XP SP2, the Generic Host Process error can potentially occur on any system and at any time. Most would have received this error msg, shortly after system startup. But this error actually occurs during the previous system shutdown. According to microsoft, this error occurs in windows XP sp2, if security update 873333 (MS05-012) had been installed.

If you encounter this problem in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, then upgrading to xp service pack 3 (SP3) could easily fix this problem.

Symptoms for Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error:

  • E-mail messages that include file attachments would not display file names, when the file name contains double-byte character set (DBCS) characters and the file name is longer than 42 characters. However, this problem can only be noticed when the e-mail message format is Rich Text.
  • All applications that implements the IMallocSpy debugging interface may experience heap corruption. For example, you may be browsing the internet and would suddenly experience a halt in all your Network activity.Though you might see the Internet connected icon in the tray, you may not able to browse
  • You encounter error messages about faulting netapi32.dll and svchost.exe
  • You also receive error messages that state “Your PC has recovered from a serious problem

Thus this Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error is a broad issue.microsoft has a patch for this issue. You may download the patch KB894391, to fix this issue.

Alternatively you can do windows update manually (Note that the above patch solution and the following windows update solution works only on PC/computer running genuine Windows and not pirated versions):

  • Go to the start menu
  • Right click “My computer”
  • Click “properties” then the “automatic updates” tab
  • Choose “turn off automatic updates”
  • Restart your computer
  • Go back to start menu and in all programs go to “windows update” you have to be connected to the internet
  • Manually update windows
  • Turn your automatic updates back on

You can also try the following solutions to fix this error:

Solution 2:

  • Go to Run and type regedit
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SYSTEM >> CurrentControlSet >> Services >> Browser >> Parameters
  • Find the key IsDomainMaster
  • Set its value to False
  • Restart the computer

Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Error

Solution 3:

  • Go to Run and type cmd
  • Type ‘netsh’ in command console then press enter
  • Then type ‘winsock’ and press enter and then type reset
  • Restart the computer
